Open Question: getting kicked off call of duty matches?

i will be in a match, it will be just starting, i will be in a party chat with my buddy, my connection will be 3 bars light green to full 4 dark green bars, and everything will be just fine.  BUT i will shoot at someone and it will not register as a hit, i can be point blank and aim at the chest and it will not register, and then ill lag and get shot and killed.  Then it will be fine for a few minutes, and then it will kick my buddy out of the party, tell me my connection is interrupted, and will say game lobby closed or unable to connect to host or my favorite server connection unavailable, and i will be in my lobby by myself, my buddy will rejoin my party with no trouble and tell me that the game is still going on with no lag, and ill be like WTF???

what is going on here? it just started doing this last night, and im getting aggravated...i have DSL with a 3mbps connection.  and ill do a connection test on xbl and it will come back fine, and then ill do one on my computer and it will be as fast as ever.  BTW my computer stays off when i play xbox live.

help?
